Monk, Assassin, or Elementalist?
Which do you think I should be? I just want opinions. I'm willing to learn and try to bring out the most of whatever these classes can offer aswell..

Well, my advice would be try them all out if you can. Only then can you really tell for sure which profession you like the best. Each class plays a specific part whether in PvE or PvP so you just have to find your nitch.

Lets see, if you wanna be VERY popular go for the monk, because you will ALWAYs be able to find a group. If you want to learn management and spell combinations go for elementalist and if you want to learn how to naviagate PvE go Assassin. All depends on how you want to start!

Trying them all is good, but if you don't want to waste time or you want to see which to try first then...
Assassin - Must start in Factions (Cantha)
- will find it tough to get into groups
- melee (usually) with weak armor (AL 70)
- poor self-healing
- little party aid (can cripple and can blind, but very little else to help the entire party)
- the best movement abilities in the game
- great spike damage
- little attacks for multiple opponents
Elementalist - great AoE damage
- very weak self-healing
- can get into groups with fair ease
- the term for this profession is "nuker"
- as with all casters, weak armor, but have spells to compensate
- the most energy out of any profession (through Energy Storage attribute)
- some movement skills
Monk - the easiest profession to get into groups - very high demand
- the best self-healing in the game
- protection spells and healing spells to help the party
- no movement skills
- able to remove hexes and cure ailments
- has some damage skills (smiting)
- can become a great solo character (usually 55 monk)
Personally I like the Monk. I have a Mo/E, and an A/W. The elementalist is nice, but not all that great (may its just my play style )
Assassins are great, but getting into groups is very hard.

Play an ele first. It'll make your next character look like a damage god.

Monk. Then you understand why people hate you when you run into the middle of the group.
I think Monk is a great way to start, since you are focusing more on your party than on your enemies. You also learn more about positioning.

I played warrior first to learn basics of game. I then made a monk to learn the team play part of game. Now I throw down serious damage with my Ele. It is a toss up between my Monk and Ele as to which is favorite. Got more complaints on how I used my assassin (now deleted) than my Monk. Assassin is NOT a tank.
